First Winners in the Windsor & Maidenhead Community Lottery | July 29th saw the first draw of the new Windsor & Maidenhead Community Lottery, an exciting new fundraising initiative launched by the Council for good causes across the Royal Borough.

To celebrate the first draw of the community lottery, there were two additional special prizes won by two local residents – for one a luxury spa session at the Fairmont Windsor Park Hotel and for another, an overnight stay at the MacDonald Windsor Hotel. Fourteen local players each also won three free tickets to play in the lottery because they matched two of the numbers drawn.

1,043 tickets were entered into Saturday’s first draw for the 69 local good causes across the borough already signed-up to benefit from the lottery.

Councillor Joshua Reynolds, cabinet member for communities and leisure, said: “Congratulations to our first winners. They, and the rest of the lottery players are making a huge difference to the grassroots good causes across the borough.

“We’d like to thank everyone who has joined the lottery so far, and we encourage anyone who wants to support a good cause to take part. When you buy your ticket on the lottery website you can see the full list of local good causes you can support. There’s a huge range of different groups on there. Something for everyone.”

The community lottery is a great opportunity for Royal Borough residents to directly support, in a fun way, local grassroots good causes of their choice, plus have the chance to win cash prizes. Up to 60% of each £1 ticket sale goes to the local good cause they nominate. And you don’t have to live in the Royal Borough to play the Windsor & Maidenhead Community Lottery, though you can only choose to support the local good causes signed up.

Windsor Horse Rangers, Maidenhead & District Stroke Club, and the Alexander Devine Children’s Hospice Service are currently at the top of the local good causes fundraising board. Just behind them are the Alzheimer’s Dementia Support Charity, Lilliput Learners Pre-School, Swan Lifeline and Wessex Primary School PTA.

The Windsor & Maidenhead Community Lottery draws take place weekly on Saturday nights. For more details on how to play, or sign up as a good cause, visit the borough’s community lottery website.

And on Saturday 26 August, there’s also the chance to win an Apple MacBook Air in the lottery’s summer draw.
