On Monday 11th March Ascot Racecourse hosted the finals of the Ascot/1711 2024 Bake-Off Competition.  This followed heats that took place in 14 schools across Slough, RBWM and Bracknell Forest.

The teams had designed, created, baked and decorated their own Tray Bake following this year’s theme of ”Royal Ascot”; locating and using locally sourced ingredients and creating a mood board showing their journey from sourcing to design, decoration and naming of their creation.

Judges for the event were Gemma Amor, 1711 Executive Chef, Matthew Humphreys, 1711 Head of Operations and Guest Judge Eric Lanlard, Celebrity Pâtissier, who all brought a wealth of experience.       Following the judging, students, teachers and parents enjoyed a career talk with the 1711 Training Team together with an interactive Q & A session followed by a tour of the hospitality areas.
