Waste and recycling collections moving to fortnightly during COVID19
From Monday 6th April RBWM will be moving to fortnightly waste & recycling collections, following staff reductions due to the Corona COVID19 Virus outbreak.
This means from Monday 6th April 2020 general waste (black bin) will be collected one week and recycling (blue bin) will be collected the following week but food waste collections will continue to be collected weekly. Your collection date will remain the same.
Those in properties where the bins are communal will continue to have all their waste and recycling collected weekly.
EASTER | Easter Bank Holiday bin collections
Due to the Easter Bank Holiday, waste and recycling collection days will change slightly from Friday 10 April.
This means from Friday 10th April your collection will take place one day later than normal. For example if your waste is normally collected on a Friday for this week and next it will be collected on a Saturday (this is the same as every other bank holiday).

Waste and recycling collections move to alternate weekly collections during COVID-19 outbreak
Waste and recycling collections in the Royal Borough of Windsor & Maidenhead will move to alternate weekly collections from Monday 6th April during the COVID-19 outbreak.
Serco, who provide waste and recycling services on behalf of the Royal Borough of Windsor & Maidenhead have seen reductions in staff availability due to ill health or needing to self-isolate during the COVID-19 outbreak. This means from Monday 6 April 2020 general waste (black bin) will be collected one week and recycling (blue bin) will be collected the following week but food waste collections will continue to be collected weekly.
Collection days will remain the same but the time of day may change. This means residents should ensure their bin is outside the night before their normal collection day or by 7am on collection day. Residents can find out which week their general waste (black bin) or recycling (blue bin) will be collected here.

Cllr Donna Stimson, lead member for waste and recycling said: “This was a very difficult decision to make and we are sorry for any problems it may cause our residents, but we hope that they will understand the reasons for it during these difficult, unprecedented times.
“Due to the speed at which we are having to make decisions we cannot let people know in the normal way about these changes so we are asking that if you see this message you let any neighbours, family or friends who may not have seen it know. To support residents to do this responsibly, in line with social distancing rules, we have created a downloadable graphic which can be printed and put through a letter box or shared digitally (found here)

During the alternate weekly collections, minimising waste and recycling is the most important thing we can all do to help. Below are our top tips:
- Did you know that 30% of the rubbish we collect in the Royal Borough is food waste? There are ways we can all cut down on this - like not overbuying, planning meals to avoid waste and making use of leftovers. If you already have a food waste bin please note that you do not need the special liners, any plastic bag or newspaper will do (and we will recycle these for you afterwards).
- We will still collect your blue bin recycling once every fortnight, so it's important that you are recycling everything you can. To check what we can collect, see here.
- 80% of waste in general waste bins (black bin) can be recycled. While you are recycling, there are also some simple steps to make the most of your bin space - like flattening cardboard boxes, cans and tins. - If you are doing DIY at home over the next few weeks, please keep hold of any waste until StaffertonWay Civic Amenity site can re-open. You will also need to keep hold of bulky items like furniture as we are not able to offer a large item collection service at the moment.
Alternate weekly collections, the suspension of large item collection and the closure of the civic amenity site will remain in place until further notice.
