Sebastian’s Action Trust’s annual charity golf day at Mill Ride Golf Club has raised £6,500. 50 players took part in the event held at the 18-hole course in Mill Ride, Ascot, Berkshire, on Friday, September 13th.

All of the money raised will go towards Sebastian’s Action Trust supporting hundreds of families of seriously-ill children who live in Berkshire, Hampshire, Surrey, Oxfordshire and Buckinghamshire.

The players enjoyed brunch, a round of golf, followed by dinner, a raffle and auction in the clubhouse.

Auction prizes included four ball games at Calcot Park Golf Club, St George’s Hill Golf Club, Sunningdale Golf Club, North Hants Golf Club, Mill Ride Golf Club and Swinley Forest Golf Club. There was also a golf hat signed by world famous golfer Rory Mcllroy, a golf lesson at Windlesham Golf Club and an overnight stay and dining voucher for the Casa Hotel, Yateley.

Jane Gates OBE, Sebastian’s Action Trust CEO, said: “The weather was beautiful, perfect for playing a day’s golf on a lovely course. I’d like to take this opportunity to thank all the players for taking part in such a great day and to Mill Ride Golf Club for hosting the fundraising event for us again this year.”

  • Sebastian’s Action Trust is an incorporated charity based in Crowthorne, Berkshire. Developed from the vision of one very special nine-year-old boy and launched just twelve days before he died of cancer in 2003, Sebastian’s aim for the charity was to provide a place where life-limited children and their families can holiday together away from the rigours of hospital appointments, gruelling treatment schedules and prying eyes. He wanted to create a private place where memories could be made which would last a lifetime, even if that life was to be cruelly cut short.

  • In 2011, Sebastian’s vision was finally realised when The Bluebells, the UK’s first purpose built respite holiday home was completed. Since opening in July 2011, The Bluebells has given over 400 families the opportunity to spend precious time together.

  • In late 2017, the Trust purchased an ex-NHS site in Crowthorne, Berkshire, which was named The Woodlands. The Woodlands is a base from which a range of therapeutic services are available to the families of children with life- limiting or life-threatening conditions.

  • Our work also extends into emotional and practical support for families during the darkest days of their lives. This work is delivered by trained outreach family support workers, who work with our supported families to ascertain their needs and deliver bespoke support, aimed at easing their suffering and isolation.

  • Our work is primarily focused across Buckinghamshire, Berkshire, Oxfordshire, Surrey, Wiltshire and Hampshire, although we do also support families from further afield.
