At St George’s School, in Ascot, Friday 13th September 2019 marked a day of huge excitement and celebration for St George’s School in Ascot as the all-girls school’s new Swimming Pool Complex was officially unveiled.

The £5.6m facility, which took just over 12 months to complete, was opened by sports presenter, journalist and former St George’s pupil Kirsty Gallacher in the presence of Governors, Staff, Parents and Pupils.  This impressive indoor 6-lane, 25m swimming pool adjoins the existing school sports hall and boasts a stunning view of the school’s extensive playing fields through the magnificent south-facing panoramic windows.

Commenting on the new pool, Headmistress Liz Hewer said: “I am thrilled with this incredibly impressive facility and the future opportunities this will now offer for both performance swimmers and for health, exercise and enjoyment for everyone. With the introduction of our new 11+ and 13+ swimming scholarships last year, I am confident that we will inspire and develop the next generation of elite swimmers.  Our Swim Squad has already used the pool to train this week, using the new equipment ahead of their first gala next week.  As well as a new facility for our current pupils and staff, we have already hosted our first local swimming lessons and we look forward to opening up our venue to other schools and clubs in the local community.”

The architects for the project were Windsor based firm, Edgington Spink & Hyne and the building contractors were Kingerlee Ltd.
