Sunningdale Area Carnival
Saturday, September 20 2008
The Recreation Ground, Broomhall Lane, Sunningdale
Gates open to the public at 11am
Countdown to the end of summer – 3 weeks to go!!!
Officially,
Autumn begins on the 21st September - but don’t
let your summer end on a low note – come to the Sunningdale
Area Carnival on Saturday 20th September 2008.
The long-awaited
Carnival (postponed from May) will be the most exciting
ever! There will be a hint of the “Wild West”
this year in the parade, across the field and in a few of
the activities.
We also
have a Saloon for your liquid refreshments – beer &
Pimms - and Smokey Sue’s for some Wild West food.
The Carnival starts
as ever with the Parade which leaves Car Park 3 at Ascot at
about 11am – picking up at St Michaels School in Sunninghill
and Kings Corner on the way – and arriving at The Broomhall
Recreation Ground at approx 12 noon. Prospective
participants – walkers welcome from the pick-up points –
please contact Kay on 01344 620676.
Do join in if you
can – if not, then please come and support the parade
participants with all your loose change!!
At the Carnival there will be a host of activities for those
with lots of energy –
see how long
you can ride the Bucking Bronco;
-
keep in step with the caller on the line dancing;
-
learn
traditional maypole dancing;
-
see who can ‘bung-a-boot’ the furthest;
-
bounce down the giant slide;
-
wend your way through the assault course;
or
-
run
your dog round the obstacle course.
If you fancy something less frenzied –
-
welcome
the arrival of the Parade;
-
enjoy
the dogs herding sheep and geese;
-
pan for
‘gold’;
-
have a
giggle with the children’s entertainer;
-
pick a
winner in the ferret racing;
-
watch
the little ones on the Victorian Carousel;
-
ride
the miniature railway;
and of course don’t
forget to:
-
buy lots of goodies to support all the charities running
stalls and from the farmer’s market.
Our Master of
Ceremonies will be keeping everyone informed about the
activities taking place during the afternoon –
and listen carefully for the ‘spot prizes’ he will announce
throughout the afternoon.
The
Carnival will close – as always – with the ‘Coyote
Round-Up’. Come and cheer on the dogs both large and small,
mongrel and pedigree as they vie for the new title of
‘Carnival Champ’ – to be awarded to the most colourful
canine character of the Carnival! It promises to be a great way to see the summer out – so do
come and support one of the best local events of the year!!
