         CRANBOURNE AMATEUR DRAMATIC SOCIETY

presents an evening of comedy

 LAST PANTO IN LITTLE GRIMLEY

by David Tristram

 followed by

ROUND THE HORNE

REVISITED

by Barry Took and Marty Feldman

Following their success two years ago, with the highly entertaining ‘Last Tango in Little Grimley’ and tribute to ‘Round the Horne’, CADS are performing, by popular request, the sequel in the Little Grimley series, ‘Last Panto in Little Grimley’ and, after the interval, more fun and games with ‘Round the Horne revisited’.

 Last Panto in Little Grimley

In this very funny comedy, we see Gordon, Margaret, Joyce and Bernard, the four stalwarts of the Little Grimley Amateur Dramatic Society, tackle Gordon’s new sex pantomime (they’ll try anything to attract an audience) with predictably hilarious results.  These four very different characters form the entire set of performers, back-stage staff and any other role required to put on a show.

Helen Gartner skilfully directs once again and has also managed to bring together the original cast: Ben Lewis, Margaret Cook, Sarah Lewis and Tom Cobley.  They welcome you back to Little Grimley for a night of mayhem and laughter.

Previous experience of the original play is not necessary to enjoy this show to the full.

Round the Horne revisited

Kenneth Horne headed up this popular BBC radio series in the 1960s and this tribute is set in a recording studio with the audience in the role of the studio audience.  Whether or not one is old enough to remember the original, the sketches – mould breaking and even controversial at the time – are still as entertaining as ever, featuring plenty of double entendres and innuendo, sometimes in a language all of their own and not a swear word in sight.  All the old favourites are there: Julian and his friend, Sandy; breathless upper class romantics Charles and Fiona; Lotus Blossom providing a flavour of the Orient with ‘her’ musical interlude, playing a genuine Japanese flute in this production, and many more.

Ted Hunter, a true master of comedy, directs and performs for the last time before leaving the area.  He will be sorely missed, but it’s a great show for him to go out on.  He is joined here by cast members Mike Young, Andy Shea, Clare Humphreys, Roger Fletcher, Brian Ball and Chris Harrod, the (not very technical) ‘technician’ who creates various sound effects before our eyes.
